The land from which freshwater drains into the estuary is called a “watershed” and serves as a giant sieve filtering out harmful sediment and pollutants. This watershed can consist of many different types of habitat (wetlands, woodlands and pastures) as the freshwater makes it way to the estuary via creeks and rivers. The brackish waters of the lower Peace River are home to an extremely diverse and beautiful  community of marine and wetland wildlife. Herons, egrets, ibis and many other wading birds are frequently seen feeding along the shoreline while raptors such as the bald eagle, red-shouldered hawk, harrier and osprey soar over head.

For those who have never tried it before, fishng by kayak provides a truly unique fishing experience.  Fishing by kayak can be a great way to sneek up on prowling inshore game fish. Whether you choose to simply rent a kayak and explore on your own, or choose to let us team you up with a kayak fishing guide that will assist you in finding just the right areas for reds, snook and trout, you will enjoy a memorable & peaceful fishing experience to be cherished.. Fish from the kayak and find the “big one”! We welcome beginners and experienced anglers. Kayak and equipment furnished.  Fishing trips by kayak are booked with a three person capacity per guide.

Manatees are common and visit our area regularly during the winter and spring. River otter sightings are  native to the river areas and are seen from time to time. At low tide raccoons and many other mammals feed along the shoreline.  Kayaking is the perfect way to commune with all these wildlife.  Bring your camera.  It’s almost assured that your SD card will end up full of once in a lifetime photos!
